Mojito : New Worlder

With lime, mint, sugar, and a generous dose of rum, the mojito hardly needs an introduction. Yet, few know that the now ubiquitous cocktail – considered by many to be the national drink of Cuba – first gained traction as a medicinal drink. The early explorers and settlers saw that some diseases, most notably scurvy, were indeed cured by this concoction. The fact that they got a nice buzz along with a cure was a happy bonus. – Editor’s Note
